OFFERING ADAPTABLE AND AFFORDABLE SPACE SINCE 2007

Founded by two Hackney Wick locals in 2007, Grow Studios has been transformed from two empty warehouses near the Overground into a vibrant hub for artists and makers. One of the warehouses backs onto the Lea Navigation canal, offering a uniquely inspiring setting.

With a DIY ethos and a commitment to affordability, Grow was built by and for creatives. Tenants helped shape the studios themselves by sharing tools and knowledge, and cultivating a collaborative culture from day one.

Since opening, Grow has supported over 300 creatives including visual and street artists, filmmakers, photographers, designers, music producers, architects, and makers. Whether just starting out or already established, all have found space here to experiment, develop and thrive.

An Ecosystem of Creativity in Hackney Wick

Grow Studios in Hackney Wick is more than just a place to work. It’s part of a broader ecosystem that includes Grow, Hackney — an independent bar, kitchen and creative venue located onsite.

Studio holders benefit from discounts, access to the event space, and a culture of sharing that includes skills, tools, and opportunities.

Breathing life into unused buildings at Alice Billings House

We’re working with Creative Land Trust and London Borough of Newham in Stratford to bring affordable creative space for artists and community engagement to Alice Billings House in Stratford.

Built in 1905–6 as housing for the West Ham Fire Brigade, this Grade II listed building, situated as a new creative home to artists, is now being reimagined as a home for artists, makers and cultural programming.
